AM and PM Kindergarten
Kindergarten is an important milestone in your child's life! Kindergarten is a time for children to expand their love of learning, their general knowledge, and their ability to get along with others.
Some of the important components of kindergarten are learning alphabet letters and sounds, building words and recognizing basic words, and developing and deepening reading skills. In math, we will work on number concepts, counting, colors, shapes, and addition and subtraction. For science, we cover the ideas of living and non-living, the five senses, the seasons and learning about the earth. Social Studies topics include our personal history, using maps and globes, and understanding rules and how they affect us.
In kindergarten at Sorensen, children learn through the use of a proven curriculum woven with hands-on arts and humanities units. This year our arts and humanities units include: theater, drawing self portraits, African drumming, music and movement, pottery, and juggling.
When parents and teachers work together as a team, success is a reality! We look forward to working with you and celebrating all of the amazing learning that will take place this year!
